Time for some off road fun.

There were a lot of concepts to get excited about at the 2017 Easter Jeep Safari. Moab Utah saw retro, high-tech, and awe-inspiring concepts hitting the trails with their meaty tires and wheels during the 51st annual event. But the baddest model with loads of production-level equipment was arguably the Jeep Switchback concept.

“Jeep and Mopar have teamed up over 15 years to create unique, fun and highly capable concept vehicles for the popular Easter Jeep Safari in Moab,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA – Global. “These concept vehicles are a perfect example of how off-road enthusiasts can use Jeep Performance Parts to personalize and enhance the already outstanding Jeep capability, allowing them to face the toughest trails in the world.”

The new Jeep Switchback is based on a Wrangler and features a boatload of Jeep Performance Parts and Mopar goodies to make off roading more enjoyable and fun.

Coming from the Jeep Performance Parts bin are new Dana 44 axles at the front and rear, heavy-duty cast differential covers, and 4.0-inch lift kit with Remote Resevoir Fox shocks that allows for greater vertical travel from the new truck tires and wheels. New 10th Anniversary steel front and rear bumpers provide a more rugged look with the former integrated a new Rubicon winch and winch guard. A new grille sits front and center as well.

In addition to the Jeep Performance Parts, the Switchback features 17-inch concept wheels and 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud Terrrain KM2 tires. These tires and wheels help improve off road performance even more when paired with the factory upgrades.

Visually, the Jeep Switchback concept has new concept half doors, a concept hood, and concept “Safari hard top and roof rack. New Jeep Performance Parts high-top fender flares, swing gate hinge reinforcement and oversized tire carrier add more functionality and style. New Mopar taillight guards and black fuel door completes the visual transformation.

Seeing the trail ahead will never be a problem with the Jeep Switchback concept. New concept LED off road A-pillar lamps, windshield light bar, taillights, and Jeep Performance Parts LED headlights and fog lights blaze a path of light through any conditions.

Inside, occupants are treated to new Katzkin leather seats, body-colored bezels, and a spray-in bedliner with Mopar all-weather floor mats. Concept sport grab handles and a Mopar swing gate storage rack with first aid roadside safety kids adds another layer of functionality to the SUV.

The factory 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine sends a bit more power to the tires and wheels in the Jeep Switchback concept. A new axle-back exhaust system and cold air intake from Jeep Performance Parts free up a couple extra ponies and provide a more aggressive sound.

While the Jeep Switchback concept is not a production vehicle, many of the Jeep Performance Parts and Mopar accessories will be available to Wrangler owners.
