Celebrating sales with some special models.
It’s been a pretty good year for Chevrolet’s SUVs. July’s retail sales were up 24-percent for the company as a whole with Equinox model sales up 8-percent. The Traverse had its best month ever in July as well. Compared to a full calendar year, sales were up 20-percent. So, Chevrolet is celebrating with new special edition models for the Equinox and Traverse with new looks, custom wheels, and more.
“Special Editions resonate with buyers, offering a unique package with unique looks,” said Betsy Flegg, senior manager, Chevrolet SUVs. “We’ve already seen a strong interest with the Trax Midnight Edition when we announced production last December. We anticipate customers will strongly like the looks of the new Equinox Midnight and Sport Editions and Traverse Graphite Edition.”
The 2017 Chevrolet Equinox Midnight Edition features a Mosaic Black Metallic paint while its Sport Edition counterpart showcases a Summit White paint. The LT-trim models also come with the available Convenience Package as part of their Special Edition trim along with new custom wheels.
Both Equinox Midnight Edition and Sport Edition models feature black Chevrolet bowties at the front and rear along with black grilles. Black 18-inch custom wheels match the new dark theme as well on the exterior. Inside, Jet Black perforated leather seats comes standard as well as memory functions for the driver’s seat and mirrors. Both side mirrors also sport black caps while roof rack cross bars sit above.
The 2017 Chevrolet Traverse Graphite Edition also joins the lineup and is available only on 2LT models. The new special edition includes a choice of Mosaic Black Metallic, Tungsten Metallic, Siren Red Tintcoat, or Iridescent Pearl Tricoat colors along with Black Chevrolet bowties. Large 20-inch custom wheels finished in Dark Charcoal come standard as does the dual exhaust and Integrated Assist Step.
“Special Editions give consumers an opportunity to buy something outside of the mainstream trim designation,” said Karl Brauer, senior director, automotive industry insights, Kelly Blue Book. “This lets them spend a little more for a unique model, one that often provides a higher resale value when it’s time to sell or trade the vehicle for their next purchase.”
All of the special edition Chevrolet Equinox and Traverse models are currently on sale.
