RIP to all the rims and tires.
While some of us in the Northern Hemisphere were braving bitter winter storms and absurdly frigid temperatures, those crazy Aussies were out in full force enduring some devastating heat to shred some rubber. Street Machine Summernats 31 is over but it provided plenty of thrills and tire smoke that we can all appreciate.
At the Burnout Masters Street Machine Summernats, rear-wheel drive cars, trucks, and more aren’t afraid to show off by laying down the power. There’s all kinds of fun and entertainment for the crowd as screaming engines spin rims and tires into clouds of smoke.
You could say that the Aussies are the masters of the burnout. At the Burnout Masters Finals, only 10 competitors from the Street Machine Summernats 31 remained to show off their best stuff. Some of the competitors had rims and tires that created colored smoke to wow the crowd. Others relied on good ol’ fashioned muscle to get the job done and turn rubber into smoke.
This video shows some of the highlights from the finals with cars and trucks – many of which the United States does not get – battle it out fiercely. The force-fed V-8 engines spit fire in the scalding hot weather as the rear rims and tires spun into their own destruction.
It’s a beautiful sight of pure power in motion, and one that we can totally get behind.
