Watch these Mercedes-Benz Truck Rims Get Dirty

Just the way they designed.

In the off-road world, you tend to notice vehicles that are designed to get down and dirty being used as grocery-getters and garage queens with soccer moms behind the wheel. It’s unfortunate and disappointing to see these SUV and truck rims sitting all shiny and clean when they should caked in a layer of mud and dirt.

This is often the case with Mercedes-Benz SUVs, especially the all-terrain G-Class. These boxy monsters are literally built to tackle tough terrain from their truck rims to the interior and today, they’re mostly used as status symbols of wealth and prosperity because of the price tag they carry.

But not at Mercedes-Benz. The G-Class and Unimog are still built and testing for off-road performance. The Mercedes-Benz G 500 4×4² and its short wheelbase is made just for that, and is packing a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine with 422 horsepower heading to its truck rims. It can hit some pretty steep vertical grades with ease, go through some pretty deep water, and bang through some rough terrain.

But for those that need some serious off-road utility, there’s the Unimog U5030. Everything from the struts, its massive truck rims with beefy tires, is made to go over treacherous terrain and carry equipment to places that would be impossible for other vehicles.

Here, Mercedes-Benz shows us how to really drive their off-road masterpieces like they should be. Next time you pick up groceries, don’t take a road home.
