Don’t see that every day!

Hillclimb races are some of the coolest, most entertaining forms of racing on asphalt. Vehicles catapult themselves up an incline of winding roads in an effort to finish the course as quickly as possible, usually on closed public roads. Rims and tires are put to the test as are the driers as they attempt do cut corners as quick as they can.

Usually, sports cars, super cars, and purpose-built race cars are tasked with putting the power down to their sticky rims and tires during these events. They’re packed with safety devices along with modifications, upgrades, and more to keep times to a minimum.

And while these racecars are the usual suspects, there are some bigger, badder, and crazier machines like these racing tractors that participate to the joy of the crowd. At the 11th running of the Côte de Holtz hillclimb in 2010 a few race trucks and tractors with massive rims and tires were put through their (slow) paces through the hillclimb course.

Competing right alongside Formula racers, rally cars, and sports cars, these race tractors and trucks put down some serious diesel power in a relatively fast show of power. Some were hard to control and spun out while others like with the “Green Monsterchicken” had to be carefully controlled due to their top-heavy build and massive rims and tires.

Even though these monsters weren’t the fastest, they were easily the most entertaining of the day!
