The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon models are designed specifically for life off the road and have all the standard equipment to back that up. Jeep took an already proficient all terrain vehicle and made it better by adding on all sorts of factory upgrades such as new axles, a different four-wheel drive system, new gearing, and then a few interior goodies to give the SUV a more outdoor feel. That’s good enough for most enthusiasts but some want even more tools at their disposal for adventures off the beaten path. This 2013 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was one such vehicle and has been outfitted with a new set of ATX Wheels along with bigger, beefier, and badder off road tires to handle anything.
The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is the perfect starting point for any enthusiast that’s looking to go anywhere other than the asphalt. Powering all four ATX Wheels is a newly developed 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine that was voted as one of Ward’s 10 Best Engines for 2013. The V-6 pumps out 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque while returning 17 city / 21 highway mpg. Rock-Trac 4.1-low gear ratios in the four-wheel drive system help it to power through more obstacles than the standard model while working with the 73.1:1 Crawl Ratio for the manual transmission.
This Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was fitted with a new set of ATX Wheels that are designed specifically for duty off the roads and have some style to match. The ATX Artillery rims were installed in a 17 x 9.0 setup to allow for some big off road tires to be installed on them. The choice for the new ATX Wheels were the 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires that were developed for light trucks and SUVs and feature Kevlar integrated into the sidewalls to reduce punctures by up to 35-percent compared to traditional tires. The innovative use of Kevlar also helps to stabilize the ride on pavement for a more controlled and comfortable ride quality.
This Jeep Wrangler Rubicon with ATX Wheels and off road tires may not be the most hardcore all terrain vehicle out there, but it has more than enough tools to get the job done.
