Track-day star.

The E46-generation BMW 3-Series, specifically the M3, was regarded as one of the best driver’s cars on the road – and still is to this day. Its superb balance and dynamics coupled with a potent engine made for a very athletic and nimble car that drivers could easily control and conquer the track. Alex from European Car Magazine owns one of these German sports cars and has upgraded it considerably with Enkei wheels and a hardcore turbocharger setup to tear up the track.

The naturally-aspirated 3.2-liter inline-six cylinder engine provides plenty of thrust in stock form, but that just wasn’t enough for Alex. Instead, output was almost doubled. A full turbocharger setup was installed on the inline-six so that a total of 600 horsepower reaches the rear Enkei wheels and 60 mph is reached instantly from rest.

Handling all of that additional power is no easy task, but the new Enkei wheels were more than up for the challenge. The factory rims were swapped out for a new set of Enkei NT03M Racing Series wheels. The 12-spoke lightweight wheels were installed in a square 18 x 10.0 +25 fitment at the front and rear and given some grippy Falken RT615-k tires measuring 275/35/18 for a larger footprint. The rear axle also benefits from 10 mm spacers for an even wider track.

But the new Enkei wheel fitment wasn’t done there. In order to make the BMW M3 more nimble and agile in the corners than it already was, new KW Clubsport coilovers were installed and set up to have a -3.5-degree camber up front for better grip. Housing the new Enkei wheels are rolled fenders at the front and rear while a Performance Friction big brake kit is hidden behind the spokes and provides unrelenting stopping power.

The final touch is a new set of Recaro racing seats inside the cabin, contributing to a superb, high-performance driving experience.

The E46 BMW M3 may be over a decade old, but with its new Enkei NT03M Racing Series wheels and turbocharged engine, it can still outperform sports cars of today.
