Bump starting a friend.

Most of us have had the unfortunate occasion when your vehicle’s starter motor goes and you’re stuck. For those of you that are lucky enough to have a manual gearbox, all it takes is getting those rims and tires rolling for a quick bump start to get you to your destination safe.

This Volvo 18-wheeler tractor trailer was not able to start due to the fact that its starter motor failed. With it far from the repair shop, it needed to get its rims and tires rolling in order to get it bump started. Unfortunately, that’s a serious amount of weight that has to get moving. It would easily take at least 10 people pulling/pushing to get it going at a slow pace.

But this 2002 Dodge Dakoda with a 5.2-liter V-8 and manual gearbox decided to give it a shot. After hooking up to the front with a tow strap, it began to go forward with its rims and tires struggling to keep grip on the pavement.

After a few unsuccessful attempts at starting, the 18-wheeler finally got some good momentum thanks to the Dakota and it’s V-8. With those 18 rims and tires slowly moving, the driver was able to pop the clutch while in gear and start the truck up, preventing the need for a tow.

The little truck that could saved the day.
