A new model right around the corner?
There’s been rumors, drawings, concepts, and design sketches of a Jeep Wrangler pickup vehicle for quite some time, but it looks like it may finally be heading towards production. It appears as though it’s finally time to get those truck wheels on the trails thanks to these spy shots of a speculated Jeep Wrangler pickup.
Enthusiasts have been wanting a pickup truck version of the Jeep Wrangler for years and it’s easy to see why. The model would offer some unrivaled cargo capabilities along with the SUV’s off-road heritage. While it may share quite a bit with the Wrangler model, details on the pickup version are pretty non-existent. The new model will be more than just a Wrangler with a bed and some truck wheels though.
Speculatively, the Jeep Wrangler pickup will likely have the traditional body-on-frame construction and use lighter materials such as aluminum in an effort to improve fuel economy. A new turbocharged four-cylinder engine along with some rumored hybrid and/or diesel powertrains driving all four truck wheels might make an appearance too. The same off-road dedication will likely be found throughout the chassis and suspension as well.
While this camo-clad, Jeep with a bed and truck wheels is just a prototype, it is a sign of what could be in store for us very soon, and that’ll get enthusiasts going for sure!
