Three-wheeled lightweight.

It’s not often that we feature vehicles with less than four wheels – let alone a three-wheeled motorcycle – but this Polaris Slingshot with Niche Wheels is one of the coolest rides around. The lightweight three-wheeled motorcycle can do it all and put a smile on any driver’s face, from its looks to its driving ability.

Powering the third, or rear of the three Niche Wheels on the Polaris Slingshot is a 2.4-liter EcoTec naturally-aspirated inline-four cylinder engine from General Motors. The same engine was used to power various GM vehicles including the likes of the Pontiac Solstice, so it has the ability. In this form, it produces 173 horsepower at 6,200 RPM and 166 lb-ft. of torque at 4,700 RPM. The motor is also capable of reaching 7,000 RPM, where it redlines.

While that doesn’t sound like a lot, consider that it’s only pushing around a vehicle with a curb weight of 1,718 lbs. That gives the Polaris Slingshot some serious agility and maneuverability, especially in the curves. That’s what puts a smile on driver’s faces.

That, and of course being able to look at it and admire its styling with new Niche Wheels. For this three-legged sprinter, a new set of Niche Mulsane P91 rims were installed. Up front, the Niche Wheels measure 19 x 8.5 while the lone rear wheel comes in at a staggered 20 x 11.0 size. Sticky 245/35/19 front and 315/25/20 rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires are worn by each rim along with a contrasting Monoco Copper color with Gloss Clear finish.
