Throwing it back to the ‘90s at the Easter Jeep Safari.
Every year at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, Jeep has unveiled a range of concept vehicles along with Mopar that gets the blood flowing among off-road enthusiasts. At the 51st event this year, one of the throwback concepts was the Jeep Grand One that has the classic ZJ look with custom wheels, special design, and unique interior.
“It’s truly a labor of love for the Jeep team to develop exciting, capable concept vehicles each year for Moab and the Easter Jeep Safari,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global. “We look forward to the reaction and feedback from enthusiasts and our most loyal customers as these new Jeep concepts are put through their paces on the trails in Moab.”
The new Jeep Grand One concept celebrates the 25th anniversary of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee model. The 1993 ZJ-generation model sports a number of special features from custom wheels to a ‘90s-themed interior.
The exterior of the Grand One concept is more dedicated to off-road performance than your average ZJ-generation model. Trimmed fascias allow for better maneuvering across rugged terrain while high-clearance fender flares allow for more vertical travel for the custom wheels. A special subtle wood grain treatment also adorns the body for that old-school look.
Hitting the ground are new 33-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 tires strapped on 18-inch lace-style custom wheels. A 2.0-inch suspension lift provides more clearance for the SUV whole selectable locking differentials help better distribute power.
Inside, the Jeep Grand One concept has a ’90s-themed cabin along with a durable bedliner that replaces the carpeting. A vintage car phone is used for its high-tech features at the time. The entire headliner is covered in a special plaid design as well.
Under the hood of the Jeep Grand One concept is a 5.2-liter V-8 engine sending at least 220 horsepower through the four-speed automatic transmission.
Don’t expect this old-school Jeep Grand One concept to ever go on sale, unfortunately.
