The Porsche 944 is a car that’s often forgotten about. The 911 steals the headlines, while newer cars are priced as bargains. But, a 944 in good condition can be every bit as glorious of a driver’s car as a new model. This Porsche 944 Turbo drift car with custom wheels in Iceland is one that nobody saw coming.
In a sport that is dominated by lightweight, rear-wheel drive Japanese sports cars with monster turbochargers, staggered custom wheels, and a special stance, seeing a German sports car is rather out of the ordinary.
But the Porsche 944 Turbo was no slouch when it was new. In fact, it was almost the perfect driver’s car. The honed dynamics and balance of the car itself were superb. Throw in a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine producing north of 220 horsepower for the rear custom wheels and you have yourself a car enthusiast’s dream.
So, this white Porsche 944 Turbo speeding around the track in a cloud of smoke at Drift Iceland isn’t a bad choice at all. Of course, the engine has been heavily modified, the mismatched custom wheels are done so purposely, and there’s loads of safety equipment, but this is a Porsche 944 that we are all lusting after.
