The new 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the fastest and most powerful SUV ever made.

“Long recognized as the full-size SUV capability leader, Jeep Grand Cherokee is now the most powerful and quickest SUV as well, with the introduction of our new 707-horsepower Trackhawk,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand – FCA Global. “The new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk delivers astounding performance numbers, backed by renowned SRT engineering that combines world-class on-road driving dynamics with luxury, refinement and an array of innovative advanced technology.”

The power comes from the 6.2-liter, supercharged V-8 engine packed beneath the SUV’s ventilated hood. The engine is the same unit found in the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and features a twin-screw supercharger generating up to 11.6 PSI of boost pressure. Forged pistons and internals allow it to withstand some serious pressures while a 92-mm throttle body feeds it with cool air thanks to a cold-air scoop in the fascia that replaces a fog light.

That results in an incredible 707 horsepower and 645 lb-ft. of torque going to all four of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk’s custom wheels. This required that a stronger drivetrain be installed with a reinforced eight-speed TorqueFlite gearbox doing most of the work with a revised software program running the show.

This enables the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk to accelerate to 60 mph from rest in just 3.5 seconds and through the quarter-mile in just 11.6 seconds. Top speed is all the way back at 180 mph – incredible considering that it’s an SUV.

The new Trackhawk also sits a full inch lower than the non-SRT Grand Cherokee models thanks to its new suspension with Bilstein adaptive damping in the front and rear. New 20 x 10.0 front and rear forged custom wheels in Titanium with a Satin Chrome center cap provide a thrilling contrast to the body. New Pirelli Scorpion Verde all-season or Pirelli P Zero three-season tires can be optioned to generate up to 0.88-G of lateral acceleration on the skidpad.

Behind those custom wheels sits a set of powerful brakes that have to bring the heavy SUV to a halt. Up front, there’s six-piston yellow painted calipers with 400 mm discs while the rear comes in with four-piston 350 mm discs.

Visually, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is more commanding and powerful. Dual heat extractors on the hood help keep things cool while a seven-slot grille sits below. Bright bi-xenon headlights with gloss black backgrounds add some road presence along with the flared fenders housing the custom wheels and side sills to match. A gloss black rear valence and quad 4.0-inch black chrome tailpipes hint at the SUV’s power.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is expected to hit dealerships in the fourth-quarter of this year.
