Off roading often presents a variety of challenges and obstacles. It’s all part of the fun and if you have the right gear, custom wheels, and knowledge, you can get yourself and friends out of some sticky situations. This guy takes the gold medal in the ingenuity department.
Here we have a Toyota FJ Cruiser in the sand dunes. Normally the FJ Cruiser is a pretty competent and capable off road vehicle, but sand presents a whole new mess of issues for all terrain enthusiasts. That is, of course, you have some specially made custom wheels.
Sand is pretty unforgiving and even the most capable vehicles are prone to getting stuck in the fine mess of microscopic rock. It can swallow wheels and tires and make it almost impossible to escape. This requires others to get shovels and dig out the custom wheels, then use other hardware to get some grip before the vehicle can move onwards.
But this guy had another idea. He strapped a makeshift device that holds metal shovels to the outside of the custom wheels so that when they turn, the shovel acts as a paddle and moves the vehicle forward by digging out sand.
It’s genius and it works like a charm to get the FJ Cruiser unstuck from the sandy mess.
