Surf in style.
At the 2016 SEMA Show, Chevrolet will be showcasing a huge range of special concept models and a range of styling and performance parts. The Colorado Z71 Hurley concept is one of them with its beach-inspired design, custom wheels, and innovative equipment.
“Colorado is a lifestyle enabler and the Hurley concept demonstrates the personalization possibilities for one of the most thrilling sports,” said Jessica Rogers, Colorado marketing manager. “With Chevrolet Accessories parts, the sky — and the surf — is the limit when it comes to tailoring the Colorado to your work or recreation interests.”
The beach-going truck features a special surfboard rack, new storage, off-road lights, sport side steps, custom wheels, and an illuminated black bowtie kit. A new Bimini bedcover gives driver and passengers shade when they need to chill on the beach while the Thule rack in the bed can be used as a way to dry wetsuits and water storage.
The exterior of the Chevrolet Colorado Z/71 Hurley concept wears Seafoam Green paint with a tone-on-tone set of Hurley graphics. Even the skidplates bear the Hurley logo. For off-roading, a lifted suspension provides greater capability along with the 17-inch custom wheels from the Chevrolet Accessories catalog shod in Goodyear DuraTrac all-terrain tires.
This concept is all about functionality,” said Ryan Hurley, creative director for Hurley. “When we discussed the project with Chevrolet, we didn’t want just a truck with our logo on it. It had to offer solutions for the challenges surfers face at remote locations and that’s exactly what it delivers.”
Powering the Chevrolet Colorado Z/71 Hurley concept is the new 3.6-liter V-6 engine that sends a total of 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft. of torque to the custom wheels through a new eight-speed gearbox. An automatic-locking rear differential, transfer case skidplate, and more ensure proper traction in any situation.
Inside, the Chevrolet Colorado Z/71 Hurley concept features a special water-resistant ventiprene material on the seats, arm rests, and door panels that’s similar to the wetsuits surfers wear. The Khaki Green and Sand Dune cabin features Hurley logos in the headrests, fill plates, and floor liners as an added bonus.
