Packin’ in the sport.
The latest change in model designations at BMW had quite a few people upset. The fact that the 3-Series was split into the 3-Series (sedan) and 4-Series (Coupe/Gran Coupe) made quite a few die-hards angry. However, it still doesn’t change the driving DNA that is engrained in them from the staggered rims to the potent engines, and superb handling. A new set of Niche Wheels like the ones featured on this 428i Gran Coupe make a whole world of difference as well.
In itself, the BMW 428i Gran Coupe is an athletic four-door coupe that is capable of handling its own on the track and winding curves thanks to its staggered rims, wheelbase, and tight suspension. Under the hood sits a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that sends a total of 242 horsepower from 5,000 to 6,500 RPM and 258 lb-ft. of torque from 1,250 to 4,800 RPM to each of the rear Niche Wheels. This allows it to scoot to 62 mph from rest in a respectable 5.8 seconds.
On this BMW 428i Gran Coupe, a new set of Niche Wheels were installed to create the perfect stance for the German four-door coupe. The models of choice were the Niche Intake M160 wearing a slick silver and machined finish to complement the exterior color scheme. The staggered rims each wear a concave profile with the wider pair sporting a more aggressive aesthetic to emphasize the car’s rear-wheel drive layout and power. Up front, the new staggered rims were installed in a 20 x 9.0 size with 245/35/20 Pirelli P Zero tires while the rear comes in at 20 x 10.5 with 255/35/20 tires.
After the new Niche Wheels were installed, the team turned their attention to the suspension. Here, the team fitted a new H&R Spring set that lowers the overall ride height to emphasize the new fitment while also sharpening handling even more for the ultimate driving experience.
