Sport Truck Time!
Trucks may not often be looked at as a sporty or driver-oriented option in the new vehicle market, but the sport pickup truck segment has its share of fun and exciting offerings that are more than capable of handling their own off the beaten path. The newest addition to the segment comes from GMC and its strapped with all sorts of fun goodies from new off road wheels to aesthetic features that make it look and feel like it’s at home being put through its paces.
The new GMC Sierra Elevation Edition is looking to raise the level of competition in the sport pickup truck marketplace and comes with two optional engines and lots of gadgets to make going off the road even more thrilling.
“Much in the same way the Sierra Denali and Sierra HD Denali models raised the standard for premium pickup trucks, the Sierra Elevation Edition will surprise and excite customers shopping for a sport pickup,” said Duncan Aldred, U.S. vice president, Buick and GMC. “With its striking looks, sophisticated connectivity features and legendary capability, the Elevation Edition raises the standard of what a sport pickup truck can be.”
The new GMC Sierra Elevation Edition will be based on the 2015 Sierra 1500 double-cab pickup and feature all sorts of factory-installed upgrades throughout the exterior such as new off road wheels and body work.
Right off the bat, the new Sierra Elevation Edition looks more imposing thanks to its body-colored grille surround and premium headlights with LED lighting alongside bright fog lights. Color-keyed door handles, mirror caps, side moldings give the truck a more distinct and purposeful look as opposed to its chrome-clad siblings. A new set of 20-inch, black-painted, five-spoke off road wheels complement the newly-colored body work as well.
Coming standard on the GMC Sierra Elevation Edition is a 4.3-liter EcoTec3 V-6 engine with 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft. of torque in two- or four-wheel drive configurations with EPA highway MPG ratings up to an impressive 24 MPG. As an option, customers can choose the larger 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 engine and its 355 horsepower to power the new off road wheels.
Inside, the new GMC Sierra Elevation Edition will come standard with all of the latest technology that General Motors has to offer including a 4.2-inch Intellilink color touchscreen audio system and OnStar with 4G LTE Connectivity.
The new 2015 GMC Sierra Elevation Edition will be available at the end of 2014 at GMC dealerships.
