Smoke those Dodge Challenger Wheels! The SRT Hellcat Lights up the Drag Strip

Pure American Muscle.

The Dodge Challenger is quite possibly the most traditional muscle car out of the Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro that the ‘Big Three’ have been waging war with in recent years. It doesn’t have the same handling capabilities as the two aforementioned sports cars, but that’s not what it’s supposed to be or do; it’s a straight-line, no excuses, and big-displacement old-school-meets-new-school muscle car. It lights up those Dodge Challenger wheels at the rear axle with ease and pumps out clouds of smoke.

The new second-generation refreshed Dodge Challenger muscle cars have welcomed some new styling and technology to the lineup along with the new SRT Hellcat variant – a 707-horsepower monster with a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engine that is just begging to light up the rear forged Dodge Challenger wheels.

In recent testing, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat has thrown down some very impressive numbers on the drag strip. The supercharged muscle car showed that it’s not afraid to light up the rear Dodge Challenger wheels getting ready to make some runs at the drag strip.

With the special red key fob inserted and some talent behind the wheel, the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat was able to not just break into the 11-second ¼-mile territory, but also the 10-second range.

“It wasn’t long ago that a 10-second car, was a full-on race car. The new 2015 Dodge Challenger raises the bar to a level some of us never thought we’d see,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands. “With the new Challenger SRT Hellcat, were reaching deep into our history and bringing back the notion from the muscle car era of the street and strip dual-purpose car. Not only can Challenger run 10s on the drag strip, but you can also fit your family and drive cross country. This new 2015 Dodge Challenger is the ultimate GT muscle car.”

With a set of Pirelli P275/40ZR20 tires strapped to the Dodge Challenger wheels, the SRT Hellcat was able to achieve a very impressive 11.2-second ¼-mile time at 125 mph certified by the NHRA. When those same Dodge Challenger wheels were outfitted with drag radials, the SRT Hellcat bust through the ¼-mile with a 10.8-second time at 126 mph.

Those figures are very impressive and make the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat in a league of its own. The muscle car is the most powerful Challenger ever, and has the most powerful Dodge V-8 engine, ever as well with its 707 horsepower, 650 lb-ft. of torque output.
