The most capable off-road model in the Sierra HD lineup.
For the 2017 model year, GMC is introducing the Sierra HD All Terrain X. The new model is the most off-road capable variant in the heavy duty truck lineup and it puts the new GMC Sierra wheels to work. The new Sierra HD All Terrain X joins the Canyon and Sierra 1500 as the third All Terrain X model from the American automaker.
“The new Sierra HD All Terrain X’s powerful attitude reflects a popular trend in very capable off-road trucks, executed with a range-topping level of refinement — a combination of attributes GMC has cultivated for years,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “And with the new, available Duramax 6.6L, this truck more than matches its bold good looks with true professional-grade capability.”
From the GMC Sierra wheels on up, the All Terrain X will offer a more hardcore appeal to buyers. Customers will be able to choose from the 6.0-liter gasoline V-8 or the more powerful Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8 engine. The latter sends a significant 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft. of torque to the black GMC Sierra wheels with an Eaton automatic locking rear differential working to achieve maximum grip.
Visually, the GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X features a body-colored grille with All Terrain insert up front and matching body-colored door handles. A black sport bar sits in the bed and supports OEM LED off-road lights. Black belt moldings, front skidplate, and B-pillars provide additional contrast. Sitting between the new GMC Sierra wheels are 4.0-inch black side steps for easier entry and exit.
Helping to make the GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X an off-road monster is the standard Z71 suspension package along with underbody shielding. New 18-inch black-painted aluminum alloy rims shod in LT275/65 R18 Goodyear Duratrac MT tires with an aggressive tread pattern make traveling off the beaten path an ease.
The new 2017 GMC Sierra HD All Terrain X will be available in a choice of Black Onyx or Summit White colors. Pricing will be released at a later date.
