Forged wheels are three times stronger and 25% lighter on average than cast wheels. This is because forged wheels are manufactured using a hugely different method to achieve the ultimate balance of strength and weight. A solid aluminum piece is heated to extreme temperatures and shaped by high-pressure machines. Finally, a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine mills the solid metal into its final design. This process results in a lightweight and ultra-tough wheel that is optimized for the high loads of heavy racetrack use.
