Who needs Off Road Wheels and Tires when you have a Lada?

It’s TANK TIME in Russia!

So, you’ve got about a hundred thousand Russian rubles sitting around and a Lada kind of doing nothing in your front yard. What ever are you to do?! Instead of buying a new set of off road wheels and tires, throw some freaking tank tracks on it!

We’ve seen automakers such as Nissan install tracks on a few of their one-off vehicles. Even aftermarket tuning companies that want to build a hardcore winter machine and don’t want to install heavy-duty off road wheels and tires will throw some tracks on for discerning customers.

But this Lada Riva is an all terrain tank machine built by Russian engineer, Pavel Shavrin, in Ural. It took about six months to install the new tracks and cost about 100,000 rubles ($1,315) to create the “masterpiece” of Russian steel and iron-fist ingenuity that is capable of overcoming obstacles better than a set of off road wheels and tires, and a proper suspension setup.

With the engine roaring, Shavrin set out to showcase the capabilities of his track-equipped Lada in the deep snow in rural Ural. Of course, it performed better than a Lada with off road wheels and tires, as well as many other SUVs and trucks.
