A bit of a David vs. Goliath battle, but who cares?!
There are many different forms of motorsport and racing that see a variety of different vehicles working for a similar goal – to be the fastest. Whether it’s through the Baja 1000 with truck wheels pounding the dirt or fat slicks sticking to the drag strip, taking home that checkered flag is always the goal.
Two-time Funny Car Champion, Cruz Pedregon and six-time Off-Road Racing Champion, Bryce Menzie, race vehicles that you could say are on completely opposite sides of the spectrum. However, they are still experts at going fast, whether it’s with truck wheels or huge rubber slicks.
So, the team at Snap-On Tools brought the two drivers together and had them swap seats and drive each other’s vehicles. First, Menzie traded in his truck wheels for the tight quarters of a drag racer at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Surprisingly, Menzie beat Pedregon’s run in the drag racer, even though it was a relatively tame version of what Pedregon normally races.
After that, Pedregon gave the Trophy Truck a try, albeit one with music and other amenities inside. Still, the truck was pretty much race spec. After learning what to do for a few laps, Menzie handed it over to Pedregon, who had quite a fun time until a landing caused his helmet lining to slip over his eyes, causing him to stop racing.
The final battle was held on the drag strip where Menzie drove his Trophy Truck and Pedregon was behind the wheel of his 10,000-HP Funny Car. Due to the power difference and the fact that off-road tires were being worn by the truck wheels, Menzie was given a six-second head start.
