Watch the Old and New Ford Raptors Spin their Truck Rims in a Race!

Ford Raptor Truck Rims Race

Trying to take down the younger sibling.

Since it came out the Raptor has been one of the most sought-after models in Ford’s F-150 lineup. Everything from the truck rims to the engine and everything in between is built for off road performance. Ford’s engineers went as far as to race it in the tough sands of Baja during the endurance race to make a better vehicle.

So, the guys at ‘The Fast Lane Truck’ decided to take the first-generation Ford SVT Raptor and put it up against the brand new 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor in a drag race. While they’re the same model series, the SVT Raptor is based on the 12th generation of the F-150 while the 2017 Raptor is based on the 13th generation of the F-150. Like they say in the video, the only thing that’s the same are the tires. Even the truck rims are different.

The Ford SVT Raptor comes packed with some serious off road goodies from a beefier suspension that’s been raised for greater clearance for the truck rims. A larger axle, advanced off road traction and stability controls, and differential locker ensure a better distribution of power. It also has a 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V-8 engine generating 411 horsepower and 434 lb-ft. of torque.

But the new Ford F-150 is lighter, better, faster, and stronger. More aluminum is used throughout along with new racing shocks, a torque-on-demand transfer case, and new tires and truck rims. Instead of the 6.2-liter V-8, a more efficient and more powerful 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V-6 engine is used to make a whopping 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft. of torque.

So, in a drag race, it was pretty obvious who would win from the start, but it was still fun to watch anyways.
