Watch Porsche set a World Record and put its Truck Rims to work!

Porsche Cayenne S Diesel towing Airbus A38

Cayenne power!

The Porsche Cayenne isn’t normally thought of as a workhorse because of where their owners drive them. Mall parking lots, kid’s practices, etc. are where you’ll normally find these, and not on the track or off road. However, these truck rims are more than capable of getting down and dirty as we’ve seen before.

So, to show off just how capable their Cayenne SUV is, Porsche GB teamed up with Airbus France to set a new world record.

Porsche Cayenne S Diesel towing Airbus A38

Armed with a Cayenne S Diesel and its turbodiesel 4.2-liter V-8 engine set off with its truck rims to the air strip in France to tow an Airbus A38.

The Airbus A38 that the Porsche Cayenne was tasked with towing tipped the scales at 285 tonnes (314.16 tons). The world record at the time was 170 tonnes (187.4 tons). With officials from the Guinness World Records on hand, the Airbus A38 had to be towed 100 feet by the stock Cayenne.

So, with the 4.2-liter V-8 sending 380 horsepower and 630 lb-ft. to the truck rims of the Cayenne S Diesel, the SUV was able to tow the monstrous aircraft 100 feet, thus setting a new world record.

After the Porsche Cayenne S Diesel was finished setting a new world record, the team figured that they would give the Cayenne Turbo S and its truck rims a shot at the feat. Surprisingly, the 4.8-liter, twin-turbo V-8 and its 560 horsepower and 590 lb-ft. of torque had no trouble towing the Airbus as well.

After all was said and done, both SUVs were driven back home with no issues.
