It’s Raptor Time!
It’s safe to say that the most badass truck on the market right now in terms of performance and presence is the Ford Raptor. From its monster truck wheels to the engine, and even the specially designed body, it’s built for off road fun.
So, who better than to show off the monster’s capabilities than the one and only, Ken Block? The crazy drifting driver that’s created and starred in the ‘Hoonigan’ film series was tasked with showing off the Ford Raptor and having its truck wheels rip through the snow.
And doing that is rather easy when you have a tailored 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine powering all four of the beefy truck wheels. The twin-turbocharged V-6 engine was modified just for the Raptor and spits out a ferocious 450 horsepower at 5,000 RPM and 510 lb-ft. of torque at 3,500 RPM, and sends it through a specially-developed 10-speed electric automatic gearbox, ensuring the truck is in the right gear at all times.
And that’s only part of the equation. The raised suspension was upgraded after years of experience from racing at various truck series including the legendary Baja. Specific rims and tires were given to ensure maximum traction and durability.
So, when it came time for Ken Block to hoon this bad boy in the snow, nothing had to be changed up. The pre-production Raptor chewed through the snow with its large truck wheels and howling twin-turbo V-6 with ease.
