Turbo time!
Back in the 1980s, Volkswagen decided to turn up the fun with their Golf hatchback by making the performance-oriented GTI. The “hot hatch” was subsequently born. As of late, Volkswagen decided to make their GTI even more performance oriented and created the all-wheel drive Golf R. The Golf R is arguably king of the hot hatches, and this Golf R on Rotiform wheels is wearing the crown.
The Golf R may still utilize a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four cylinder engine but this one packs even more of a punch than the GTI model. Here, this turbo-four generates 296 horsepower from 5,500 to 6,200 RPM and 280 lb-ft. of torque from 1,800 to 5,500 RPM. That’s good for a 4.9-second 0-62 mph time. The Golf R also sends that power to all four Rotiform wheels instead of just the front pair in the GTI.
This Volkswagen Golf R is all about performance and style. Inside, a new roll cage has been fitted in the rear cabin. The owner also installed a new air ride suspension system that lowers the ride height to just above the pavement, neatly tucking in the Rotiform wheels beneath the fenders.
This Volkswagen Golf R was also outfitted with a new set of Rotiform CVT rims. These multi-piece 10-spoke rims feature a turbine-style design that gives the impression of speed while standing still. Each one of the Rotiform wheels measures 20-inch in diameter which is perfect for the low stance of this hot hatch. What makes the Rotiform CVT rims stand out even more is their Polished finish that contrasts the factory paint well.
