In recent years, China has become a very profitable marketplace for a number of automotive manufacturers. Jeep is one of the American automakers that have become hugely popular in the Far East marketplace and they are taking advantage of this success with a host of new design concepts that cater to the culture and clientele. At the 2014 Beijing Motor Show in China, Jeep brought over four design concepts of their models that reflected the personality of the region, one of them being the Zi You Xia Renegade that sports everything from new Jeep wheels and tires to customized paints and accents, and luxury interior finishes.
The new Zi You Xia Renegade is a design concept that means “rebel” in Chinese and highlights the more sophisticated personality of the small SUV. The Renegade was one of the perfect starting points for the design concept in China. It’s the most capable off road SUV available on the market and offers up over 16 different powertrain combinations to drive either the front or rear Jeep wheels and tires. Customers can opt for the four wheel drive or front wheel drive powertrains and a nine-speed automatic with a variety of gasoline and diesel engines to propel those wheels and tires off road and overcome obstacles at an attractive price point in the marketplace.
The design of the new Zi You Xia Renegade concept model shown in Beijing was inspired by the colors from the Natural Center for the Performing Arts in the Chinese city. Everything from the Jeep wheels and tires to the customized paint colors was chosen to reflect the more sophisticated personality and pay homage to the country.
Warm Chocolate Grey was the paint color of choice for the entire body of the Zi You Xia Renegade design concept. To add some contrast, the fog lamp bezels, throat of the grille, lower rear fascia, skidplate, badging, and taillight insert bezel were given a Dark Anodized Bronze finish. The two colors are blended in the form of a Dark Charcoal roof panel, grille surrounds, and side mirrors. Making contact with the road is a new set of impressive 20-inch wheels and tires. Here, the new five double-spoke alloy Jeep wheels sport a Dark Anodized Bronze finish.
Inside is where the added class and luxury really shines in the Jeep Zi You Xia Renegade design concept. Anodized Copper adorns the speaker bezels, gearshifter, steering wheel, air vents, cup holder, and door releases while grey A-Pillars and headliner provide some contrast along with Piano Black accessories. Each of the seats and door panels wear brown leather upholstery with ‘Ombre’ grey and black plaid fabric inserts that were inspired by traditional menswear and suits.
The new Jeep Zi You Xia Renegade design concept might have a small future and could be produced in very limited numbers.
