The perfect off-season competition!

Formula One racing is considered by many to be the epitome of racing. It has the most advanced technology, the most talented drivers, and the biggest revenue stream in the world. Now, most of that is up for interpretation, but this Aston Martin Red Bull Racing stunt Is unquestionably insane as it sees chain-wearing tires and rims in the snow.

Right before the Winter Olympics began, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing decided to release video of team driver, Max Verstappen, speeding through a ski course. But this video wasn’t just with some regular car with studded snow tires and rims, it was a Red Bull Racing RB7 Formula One racer.

Formula One racecars are meticulously engineered to the very last detail to be as fast around a racetrack as possible. They’re incredibly expensive and technical from the tires and suspension, to the engine, and everything in between. So, to get the RB7 out on the snowy slopes for some driving is an incredibly rare sight.

But Aston Martin Red Bull Racing did just that with Max Verstappen and the RB7. The stunt was filmed at Kitzbühel in 2016 and recently released. To give the Formula One racer some kind of grip, they installed special tires and rims that were made for snow along with chains on the front and rear.

The RB7 racer and Max Verstappen let loose on the course – some of which was right next to the edge of the mountain. The mind-boggling stunt saw Verstappen speed through the corners with the chains whipping on the tires and rims as the 900+ horsepower engine roared through the mountain.

After the run, it left us seriously wondering if Formula One Skiing should seriously be a Winter Olympics event. What say you?
