Cool Cargo for SEMA.
The 2016 SEMA Show was packed with all kinds of vehicles sporting the latest and greatest aftermarket parts. Chevrolet was also on hand with 20 vehicles including their Silverado 1500 High Desert with some innovative cargo storage, new truck rims, and lots of other custom goodies.
“The new High Desert package blends the capability and utility of Silverado with even greater refinement,” said Sandor Piszar, director of Chevrolet truck marketing. “It’s ideal for those customers who want the security of a lockable cargo area as well as the flexibility of a pickup truck bed.”
The SEMA Show vehicle was based on the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country model with the High Desert package that is currently available as an option. The factory setup includes an innovative lockable storage system mounted over the steel bed with pillars similar to the old Chevrolet Avalanche. Storage bins can be covered by a three-piece tonneau cover and locked with a key fob.
The factory High Desert package also gives LT Silverado models a set of 20-inch truck rims, while the LTZ and High Country models get 22-inch wheels. It’s also the first truck equipped with Magnetic Ride Control that reads and reacts to the road in milliseconds for the perfect damper setup.
For the SEMA Show vehicle, new performance exhaust kits were shown that add 7 horsepower to the 6.2-liter V-8 engine and 10-horsepower to the 5.3-liter V-8 engine. The SEMA vehicle also wore a set of 22-inch truck rims finished in anodized bronze. A powerful ‘CHEVROLET’ grille insert, performance air intake, and painted engine cover.
“This Silverado High Desert is dressed to impress, inspired by the successful legacy of premium, special-edition models Chevrolet has introduced recently,” said Piszar. “As our customers continue to integrate their trucks in more personal ways, we’ll continue to offer more unique choices that speak to their lifestyles and interests.”
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Desert also features a Slate Blue body with bronze-tinted trim pieces that contrast the new truck rims. Inside, Cocoa leather seats with contrasting brown stitching and embroidered headrests are a joy to sit in during drives.
The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Desert was just one of the 20 vehicles shown by the American automaker at the 2016 SEMA Show.
