Bring on the powder!
Whether you like it or not, winter is right around the corner and snow is hitting some parts of the United States. Fear not, because Chevrolet brought a new Silverado HD Alaskan Edition concept to the 2016 SEMA Show and it’s blazing a trail through the snow with a set of bright chrome rims.
“No matter what the weather brings, Chevrolet HD trucks are designed to make the toughest jobs easier,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Truck marketing director. “The new Alaskan Edition gives customers in snow country a stronger tool for tackling the worst that winter throws at them.”
The new Chevrolet Silverado HD Alaskan Edition concept model is a preview of the production variant available on 2017 model-year trucks. A full custom stainless steel snowplow does the dirty work of moving snow and matches the chrome rims. The factory snowplow prep package makes things more bearable on the drivetrain.
The new Silverado HD Alaskan Edition concept features a customized blue exterior with silver accents throughout. New chrome bumpers, grilles, emblems, and trailering mirrors add a touch of style to the work truck. Matching 20-inch chrome rims are also included as is a leveling kit for the suspension.
The interior of the new concept truck has been made to withstand the harsh weather. Here, snow and slush can be easily cleaned out thanks to rubberized floor covering while Alaskan-themed embroidery adds a touch of style to the seating.
Powering the Chevrolet Silverado HD Alaskan Edition is a new-generation Duramax 6.6-liter turbodiesel V-8. The new motor sends 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft. of torque to the chrome rims with ease and serves up 90-percent of peak torque from 1,550 to 2,850 RPM.
“Silverado HD trucks are designed to perform in the most extreme jobs and conditions ― and that’s just what the Alaskan Edition delivers,” said Piszar. “Backed by the new, available Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel, it will tackle the toughest jobs with confidence and dependability you can count on for the long haul.”
The new production version of the Chevrolet Silverado Alaskan Edition will be available for the 2017 Silverado HD Work Truck along with LT models with the snowplow prep package.
