But it still looks pretty cool.
At the 2018 Canadian International Autoshow, FCA Canada unveiled their newest exclusive-to-Canada RAM 1500 Sport. The new truck gets some new hardware, new styling, truck rims, and redesigned interior along with a HEMI V-8 according to the needs of Canadian buyers.
The new RAM 1500 Sport was created after the automaker listened to the needs and wants from Canadian buyers, specifically those in the light-duty truck segment.
“The all-new 2019 Ram 1500 is the strongest, most technological and most capable light-duty truck we have ever built. But we didn’t stop there,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO, FCA Canada. “We sold over 100,000 Ram products in Canada last year and we pride ourselves on knowing our customers and listening to their needs. That’s why the all-new 2019 Ram 1500 Sport is being built exclusively for the Canadian market and why we are confident our truck owners will embrace the unique style and capability it offers.”
The new 2019 RAM 1500 Sport features a choice of nine different exterior colors in a monochromatic style with a Black billet grille featuring the ‘RAM’ letters across. This grille is flanked by standard bi-LED headlights with Black internal bezels and LED daytime running lights and fog lights. There’s also an optional Sport hood that’s available that shows off that HEMI V-8 that hides beneath and drives all four of the new truck rims.
Elsewhere, there are a few exclusive upgrades that put the ‘Sport’ in the 2019 RAM 1500 Sport. A new dampened aluminum tailgate with integrated spoiler and black badging gives the Canadian-exclusive vehicle a meaner look. New 20-inch Black-finished aluminum truck rims come standard while 22-inch ‘Black Noise’ alloy wheels are also available as an option.
Coming standard on the 2019 RAM 1500 Sport is the HEMI 5.7-liter V-8 engine. The naturally-aspirated motor features advanced tech like variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation. It’s also paired up with an innovative TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission with 40 individual shift maps for optimum performance and fuel economy. In total, a healthy 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft. of torque is generated by the HEMI V-8 to drive the truck rims.
Inside, customers will be treated to an all-Black cabin with Black headliner and power heated sport cloth/premium vinyl seats with ‘hex’ mesh inserts. The heated and ventilated seats also boast Canada-only embossed texture. Satin Black and Light Chrome trim pieces are found throughout along with a diamond plate-look center stack from the RAM Rebel. On the glove box, passengers will find a ‘Sport’ badge while the instrument panel and gauges are dressed in soft Diesel Gray fabric with French accent stitching.
The new 2019 RAM 1500 Sport will also come standard with over 100 standard and available safety features. Pricing for the new 2019 RAM 1500 Sport along with fuel economy figures will announced at a later date. The new RAM 1500 Sport will only be available in Canada in the second-quarter of 2018.
