We’ve got your muscle right here!

In 1945, Dodge made quite a statement with their Power Wagon – the first-ever mass-produced 4×4 pickup. The pickup made quite the impact with its four-wheel drive and usability, especially for the brand. Now, over 70 years later, the Power Wagon is back with RAM for the 2017 model-year with new Dodge RAM wheels, a beefy HEMI V-8 engine, locking differentials, and a brawny look.

“The Ram Power Wagon is an off-road, all-access pass, removing the limitations, instilling confidence and allowing owners to reach areas of recreation and lifestyle not attainable with any other pickup,” said Mike Manley, Head of Jeep Brand and Ram Brand, FCA – Global. “The 2017 Ram Power Wagon delivers to those who travel into extreme terrain, while providing the towing and payload capability required in a heavy-duty truck.”

Driving all four of the Dodge RAM wheels on the Power Wagon is a standard 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 engine. The naturally-aspirated motor cranks out a class-leading 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft. of torque. That’s enough muscle to tow 10,030 lbs. or use the standard Warn 12,000-lb. electric wench behind the front bumper to hang the competition off the ground.

Visually, the new 2017 RAM Power Wagon borrows the massive front grille from its RAM 1500 Rebel sibling. A range of new colors borrowed from the 1979-80 “Macho Power Wagon” are also available. As part of the visual upgrades, new 17-inch Dodge RAM wheels are standard and shod in beefy 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires to get moving on any terrain.

Underneath the body work is a tougher suspension and drivetrain. New front and rear electronic-locking differentials ensure a true 4 x 4 setup and give all the Dodge RAM wheels maximum traction. A special RAM “Articulink” front suspension with high-movement joints and disconnecting sway bars gives the truck greater amounts of flexibility on rough terrain. At the rear a five-link coil setup is used to provide better control and improve ride quality.

The new 2017 RAM Power Wagon will be built at the Saltillo Truck Assembly Plant in Coahuila, Mexico and will go on sale in the fourth-quarter of 2016 with a five-year/60,000-mile warranty.
