Time for a distant journey.

Part of the excitement and adventure of owning a capable off-road vehicle is knowing that it can go anywhere, anytime. Going out and discovering new things or new lands is an incredible experience and Jeep has the ultimate vehicle just for that – the Wrangler Africa concept. Set to make its debut at the 2015 Easter Jeep Safari event from March 28th to April 5th in Moab, Utah, the new concept is designed for long trips across unforgiving terrain. Everything was designed for the long haul, from the basic Jeep Wrangler wheels to the purposeful interior.

“The most enthusiastic off-roaders travel to Moab each year for this premier event, making Easter Jeep Safari the perfect place to showcase Jeep Performance Parts,” said Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO – Mopar Brand Service, Parts and Customer Care. “Jeep owners are passionate about their vehicles and Mopar, with Jeep Authentic Accessories and Jeep Performance Parts, offers a full-line of products for them to express this passion through customization, making sure there is no other vehicle like theirs on the road.”

Based on the four-door Wrangler, the new Jeep Wrangler Africa concept wears a Desert Tan paint on the body and its four Jeep Wrangler wheels. Special off-road upgrades have been added on such as a high-clearance steel front bumper sporting a winch in case things get a little sticky. Power step rock rails sit between the Jeep Wrangler wheels for easier entry and exit. At the rear, the entire body has been extended while a high-top roof has been added for more interior space. A pair of fender-mounted auxiliary fuel cans ensure you can bring enough life force for the SUV over a long distance.

Powering the Jeep Wrangler Africa concept is a 2.8-liter diesel engine for more than enough power and torque to get out of tough situations. That’s mated to an automatic transmission to make driving a bit easier over long periods of time.

The new Africa concept model sports a new set of 17-inch Jeep Wrangler wheels that are wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tires to overcome any kind of terrain that lies ahead. Also helping out is a two-inch lift kit with Fox shocks, sway bars, and front and rear Dana 44 axles that are available through Jeep Performance Parts. The spare wheel and tire can be found beneath the body.

Inside, the Jeep Wrangler Africa concept is designed for purpose. The inner roof and floor wear tough spray-on bedliner while two first aid kits and gear can be accessed on the rear door.

The Wrangler Africa concept will make its debut alongside seven other Jeep concept models at the 49th Easter Jeep Safari event in Moab, Utah.
