Dodge has made it no secret that they’re sticking to their roots with the Challenger models. It’s one of the true straightforward muscle cars still made today and they’re bringing back the Challenger “Shaker” models for 2015. The new performance-oriented models with the famous functional “Shaker” hoods will be available on the Challenger R/R and 392 HEMI models with more power, black rims, and other goodies for some real retro muscle.
“After selling out last year’s Shaker model production in just four days, our hardcore Challenger customers demanded we bring back the Shaker – plus offer more power and more performance,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO, Dodge and SRT Brands. “We listened, and for 2015, the new Dodge Challenger lineup offers the legendary Shaker hood expanded to include our 485 horsepower HEMI V-8 delivering up to 113 more horsepower than last year, plus even more track-proven hardware and technology – a combination our enthusiasts have been waiting for.”
The new functional “Shaker” hood that shakes under throttle, graphics, 20 inch wheels, and more will come as part of the packages and be available with the 2015 Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker and R/T Plus Shaker, along with the 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker models.
The new Shaker package is designed for the true muscle car enthusiasts that love the classic character of the big-displacement, rear-wheel drive sports cars decades ago. The functional Shaker hood with MOPAR cold air intake, conical air filter, and optimized air box help to improve performance. The hood-mounted scoop also shakes just like the original 1970 Challenger R/T with Shaker hood. New black rims, graphic enhancements, and more will also be part of each package.
The Dodge Challenger R/T shaker gains the new functional Shaker hood with cold-air induction setup and MOPAR conical air filter atop the 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine. In this form, a total of 375 horsepower and 410 lb-ft. of torque is sent to the rear black rims. Also coming as part of the package are Black Shaker graphics, badges, trunk spoiler, interior bits, fog lamps, and 20 inch wheels in a polished aluminum satin finish with black pockets.
For owners who want even more performance from their Challenger R/T Shaker, they can opt for the Super Track Pack. This adds on some motorsport-inspired chassis goodies to make the muscle car carve corners better. The chassis is lowered by 0.5 inches and Bilstein shocks tighten things up. New high-performance brakes hide behind the 20 inch wheels that are 9.0 inches wide with a forged aluminum construction.
The Challenger 392 HEMI models also have the option of the new Scat Pack Shaker kit. Known as the “King of all Shakers,” the new Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker sends a whopping 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft. of torque to each of the rear 20 inch wheels, making it the best-in-class. The 5.7-liter V-8 helps the muscle car reach 60 mph in the mid-4.0-second range and blast through the ¼-mile in the low 12-second range.
In this form, the Challenger sports the exposed functional Shaker hood with high-flow, cold-air induction system. New fender and hood badges, a stainless steel performance exhaust system, and 22-amp alternator add to the overall performance. On the chassis side of things, the 20 x 9.0 polished black rims hide a set of Brembo four-piston high-performance brakes.
The full range of Dodge Challenger models with the Shaker hoods and Scat Packs wil be available with new Blue, Sublime Green and TorRed along with other factory colors such as Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Pitch Black and Granite Crystal Metallic.
