Chevrolet’s new Colorado has been quite popular since its inception and has even garnered numerous awards. The American automaker has been turning things up a bit by offering a range of option packages and special editions for their trucks with accessories that range from black wheels to special exterior paint colors. The new Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss Edition features all the good stuff from off road rims to GearOn cargo tie-downs and special styling to make it one mean off road machine.
“The Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss Edition is equally at home blazing an urban trail or following one to a favorite remote campground,” said Tony Johnson, Colorado marketing manager. “It gives owners the gear-carrying ability and versatility they need to venture off-road, with segment-leading efficiency and capability.”
The Chevrolet Colorado already provides a good starting point for the all-terrain package from the black wheels to the compatibility with add-ons. The automaker’s off road truck suspension package was paired up with new off road rims that allow the Colorado Z71 to hold its own on any terrain. New 17 inch dark argent metallic painted cast aluminum off road rims wear special Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires measuring 265/65 R17 to achieve maximum grip both on and off road.
As part of the new package special black fender flares are added on to complement the rugged black wheels, as well as front and rear black Chevrolet bowtie logos. A special GearOn movable cargo tie-down system, spray-on bedliner, and all-weather floor mats with Z71 logos also come standard.
In terms of capability, a G80 automatic locking rear differential, transfer case shield (on four-wheel drive models), front recovery hooks, and projector beam headlamps make driving in any terrain a bit easier. New front fog lamps and three-inch round rocker steps between the new black wheels finish off the transformation.
The new Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss Edition is available on extended and crew cab configurations as well as with a long or short bed and rear- or four-wheel drive. Sales of the new truck and its off road rims will begin in the spring with a price starting at $28, 505 plus a $3,320 package price.
