See why Proper Rims and Tires are Essential in the Snow

Cars, Trucks, Busses, and Police sliding in Montreal

Crazy times in the slippery stuff!

Canada and Montreal are no strangers when it comes to snow. The people of the True North have quite a bit of experience with snow and ice, and embrace it with their winter sports and activities. But sometimes, it’s a lot to handle, even with proper rims and tires.

On the morning of December 5th in Montreal, drivers experienced quite the slippery ride as trucks, cars, buses, and even police cars failed to get grip with their rims and tires and slid into one giant pileup.

After Willem Shepherd got to work and into his office that morning, he looked outside only to see vehicles sliding down the sloped road and into each other uncontrollably. So, he grabbed his phone and started recording.

First, a public bus began to slide down the hill and hit a group of cars before finally coming to a stop. Soon after, a taxi lost traction only to avoid crashing by swerving into the oncoming lane where the road was plowed better. Then, a work truck couldn’t get any traction with its rims and tires, and slid into the back of the bus, only to be followed by another bus, which did significant damage and pushed vehicles into the intersection.

But when the police and plow truck came onto the scene, they too lost control and slid into the stopped vehicles. The scariest part was the plow truck hitting the police car and sending it into the air with its plow.

But the crazy thing is that all of the city and police vehicles were already equipped with snow tires. It just goes to show that even with the right rims and tires, you’re going to slide in bad ice.
