Paying homage to a classic.
Back in the 1960s, pickup trucks were used mainly for work and not for personal use or as every day drivers. That started to change in 1967 when Chevrolet offered the Custom Sport Truck that included all sorts of new features such as bucket seats, plush carpet, and trim pieces. This ushered in a new time where drivers used their trucks in a different way – for daily driving. The new Custom Sport Package for the double- and crew-cab Silverado models pays homage to the 1967 trucks with new monochromatic color schemes, chrome trim, Chevy Silverado wheels, and more.
“The Custom Sport special edition was inspired by Chevy Custom Sport Trucks of the late 1960s,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks Marketing Director. “Those CST models added a touch of elegance to a great all-around truck, just like the Custom Sport package for the new Silverado.”
Taking inspiration from the 1967 Custom Sport Truck, the new Silverado models with the Custom Sport Package will come with a host of standard features and body work. New body colored front and rear bumpers help to create a more monochromatic color scheme, along with the body-colored grille surround. Inside the surround sits a black grille with chrome accents. Chrome also adorns the door handles, mirror caps, and body-side mouldings. Special 20-inch chrome Chevy Silverado wheels are also part of the new package.
Also coming standard in the new Custom Sport Package for the Silverado are projector beam headlights, tow hooks, and heated and power-adjustable side mirrors for added convenience.
The new Custom Sport Package with its chrome accents, new features, and Chevy Silverado wheels will be available as an LT and LTZ model, including the Z71s. The LT models with the Custom Sport Package can be ordered in black or white, while the LTZ models will be available in White Diamond Tricoat paint for a clean, monochromatic scheme with their chrome 20-inch Chevy Silverado wheels.
The new Custom Sport Package for the 2015 Silverado will be available at dealerships starting in January with prices ranging from $1,950 to $2,950, depending on the model.
