The newest contender on the battlefield.
Off road truck and SUV enthusiasts look to overcome any kind of obstacle in their path no matter what kind of terrain. That same goal along with a whole list of others are what the team at AM General, the original makers of the Humvee, had in mind when they designed the new BRV-O (Blast Resistant Vehicle –Off road). Pronounced “Bravo”, the contender in the JLTV (Joint Light Tactical Vehicle) program through the United States government looks to improve in virtually every aspect of battlefield mobility, protection, and capability than its predecessor. Armed with off road wheels, thicker armor, a more potent engine, and lots of other goodies, the BRV-O is looking to protect and conquer the battlefield.
What sets the new BRV-O apart from the competition and what’s currently on the battlefield is its ability to be extremely mobile without sacrifice. Thanks to its powerful off road wheels and stout drivetrain, it can be agile (for its size) on the highway and traverse all kinds of harsh, rugged terrain that it may encounter. A self-leveling suspension constantly adjusts to conditions and works with the impact-absorbing seats to reduce stress on the crew inside.
Powering the AM General BRV-O is a new engine that is designed to take a beating without complaint. The turbodiesel engine drives all four of the off road wheels and is lightweight and fuel efficient to ensure maximum range on the battlefield.
One of the shortfalls of the Humvee was its lack of protection. AM General took great strides to improve the protection of the crew and personnel with the addition of heavier armor along with an armored underbody along with durable off road wheels and tires. The BRV-O underwent lengthy independent and government blast testing to ensure its occupants were protected.
The new BRV-O is bigger and badder than the Humvee predecessor. It’s designed to carry more personnel, more equipment, and better armament to protect and complete a given mission.
Currently the AM General BRV-O is in the testing phase with the military and hasn’t entered production.
