Time to personalize the American muscle car.
The new Gen Six Camaro is just starting to hit dealership lots around the country and General Motors has already announced a range of upgrades that can be purchased from the dealer for the muscle car. Everything from custom wheels, performance parts, styling upgrades, and more will be available to allow owners to create a unique sports car.
“These accessories and parts were designed, engineered and tested by our Camaro team, assuring proper fit and integration – and they are backed by Chevrolet,” said Jim Campbell, GM U.S. vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports.
The range of V-8 and V-6 engines in the Camaro lineup will benefit from a few extra performance goodies that increase power and sound. The V-8 and V-6 models both can be fitted with new axle-back exhaust systems with new outlets for a more muscular look at the rear. In the LT1 models with the V-8 engine, the rear custom wheels can get more power thanks to a new performance air intake kit that features an open-element filter for reduced air restriction, allowing the engine to breathe better.
Behind the new range of custom wheels sit new Brembo brake options as well as a performance-oriented suspension. LT models with the 2.0-liter Turbo and 3.6-liter V-6 engines can opt for a Brembo four-piston front brake upgrade with performance pads and 13.6-in. x 1.2-inch vented and slotted rotors. For those that want even more performance, a Brembo six-piston caliper upgrade with 14.6-in. x 1.2-in. vented and slotted rotors is available for all Camaro models. A total of four suspension lowering kits that optimize the vehicle dynamics and reduce the ride height by 0.8 inches can be installed on the LT and SS coupe and convertible models without the Magnetic Ride Control system.
Visually, the Chevrolet Camaro range can also be fitted with new easy-to-install engine covers that give the muscle car a clean, show-car appearance. New grille kits with body-color or chrome-like, or primer finishes are also available along with a ground effects kit and blade-style rear spoiler. A range of three aluminum custom wheels with multiple finishes and interior trim kits finish off the new list of available upgrades for the Gen Six Camaro.
“There’s almost no limit to the performance and personalization possibilities with the 2016 Camaro,” said Campbell.
