A modern-day hot rodder.

At the 2016 SEMA Show, Chevrolet wanted to make an impact with their cars and the new 2017 Camaro SS Slammer Concept does just that. The American automaker packed lots of glitz and glamor into the muscle car from its stunning paint to the chrome rims.

“The Camaro SS Slammer concept is a design exercise intended to take the Gen 6 Camaro’s proportions to the extreme, pushing boundaries to evoke reactions and inspiring personalization on behalf of other Camaro owners,” said John Cafaro, executive director, Global Chevrolet Design. “From styling accessories to performance parts, the choices from Chevrolet for new Camaro owners are almost endless.”

And boy does the new Chevrolet Camaro SS Slammer Concept like to strut its stuff from the chrome rims to the roaring engine.

The concept for the muscle car was inspired by today’s hot rod trends. The low stance comes thanks to a new air-adjustable suspension that dramatically reduces the ride height. A staggered set of chrome rims that measure 22 inches up front and 24 inches at the rear are shod in 245/30 R22 and 275/25 R24 tires.

Driving those massive 24-inch chrome rims at the rear is the LT1 naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft. of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox with Active Rev Match makes downshifting even more satisfying. A new Chevrolet Performance axle-back stainless steel exhaust with polished 4.0-inch pipes reduces backpressure by up to 25-percent and emits a thundering roar.

The exterior of the Chevy Camaro SS Slammer Concept has an eye catching exterior. To fit those new chrome rims, the fenders were modified and a new ground effects kit was installed. A black bowtie sits up front and matches the tinted headlights and taillights. A special one-off tri-coat Dazzling Black exterior paint features gloss white flakes to create depth and changes shade under different lighting.

“Adrenaline Red is a production interior color taken to the extreme in the Slammer concept,” said Cafaro. “The leather-trimmed seats are fully ‘dipped’ in the color, while all the upper portions of the interior have also been painted or trimmed Adrenaline Red, including the instrument panel.”

The new Chevrolet Camaro SS Slammer Concept might only be a SEMA special, but expect many of these parts to be available on production models in the future.
