Probably won’t be good, but who cares?!
We’ve seen the crazy Russians over at Garage 54 on YouTube pull off some crazy mechanical stunts and modifications to their cars over the years. Every time, we come away impressed and inspired at their abilities and creativity. This time around, they’ve installed a set of bicycle tires and rims to one of their Ladas and it went just about as you would expect.
For this feat, the Garage 54 team got their hands on a set of some new bicycle tires and rims. These were higher quality wheels to ensure that the experiment wouldn’t immediately fail. After getting the equipment, they had to make new hubs to accommodate the wheels so they set out to cutting some metal, drilling, and installing.
With the new hubs installed, they put on the new bicycle tires and rims at the rear, which began to make noise when put under pressure. So, they did the front axle as well to make it even and see what would happen.
The new tires and rims were given the green light for testing and the axles just spun. After putting on the locking nuts and tightening, the Lada was able to slowly move but there was one problem – the wheels were bent.
So, knowing that the car was unsafe to drive at virtually any speed, the crew all hopped on the Lada to add weight and then pushed on the ceiling to bend the wheels even more. Thanks to all the pressure, the wheels cracked and bent under pressure resulting in a deflating but fun end to the experiment.
