Kick it Old School with the Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip

Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip Concept

Turning back time in Moab.

The Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah is a place where enthusiasts gather annual to celebrate the brand and off-road in one of the most scenic places in the United States. While many of the new concepts shown there are modern upgrades and conversions, some like the Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip at this year’s event are cool with keeping those truck rims old.

“When it comes to customization, no vehicle can match the Jeep Wrangler,” said Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service (Mopar), FCA. “This is why we worked very closely with the Jeep brand to develop an exclusive line of more than 200 parts and accessories to enhance – even more – Jeep Wrangler’s off-road capability to fit any customer’s lifestyle. Almost all Wrangler vehicles sold are fitted with at least one Mopar accessory, and you see this perfect combination between vehicle and accessories come to life every year at the Easter Jeep Safari.”

The Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip was a classic that’s been modified for better off-road performance with a fresh look. The classic character of the SUV has been retained despite the upgrades to the body, chassis, truck rims, and interior.

The entire wheelbase of the Wagoneer Roadtrip was extended by five inches while the track has been widened, with the body modified to accommodate. Custom fender flares house the new truck rims and give it a muscular look along with the new wheel wells. Up front, there’s a new razor grille while the windows have been replaced with green architectural glass.

Underneath the body work sits a new boxed and reinforced frame suited for off-road driving. Dana 44 front and rear axles with lockers and a four-link suspension with coilover springs makes for a more modern ride with old-school off-road ability. Hitting the dirt are new 33-inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain tires mounted on 17-inch truck rims in a creamy white finish.

Inside, it’s all heritage with the Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip. The original front and rear bench seats are used while Oxford-colored leather adorns the paneling. Above, a wicker headliner has been fitted while bedlined floor lends a tougher, purposeful function. As a special treat, a customized cooler made from period luggage and a tool box made from the valve cover of a 230 Tornado engine are stored inside.

You most likely won’t be seeing this Jeep Wagoneer Roadtrip on any road or terrain anytime soon. Instead, expect to see it in a museum looking downright gorgeous.
