What better way to enjoy an abandoned air strip, right?
Are you ready to make some smoke, because we sure are! There’s nothing like the feeling of spinning your rear wheels and tires and making a cloud of smoke as you slide sideways around a corner at speed. Doing it with friends is even better, especially when you have seemingly endless amounts of pavement at a place like, say, an airstrip.
That’s exactly what the guys at Supertuner did. They got together at an abandoned airfield and just shredded some wheels and tires for the fun of it while making a pretty epic drift reel.
It started out a clear, warm, sunny day in the desert with the full airstrip free for hoonage. This allowed the drivers to coordinate some pretty impressive synchronized drifting scenes as all of the wheels and tires spun in unison around corners, buildings, and more.
As the sun was going down, one of the drivers had a pretty courageous idea of drifting down concrete slabs that formed large steps with each slab getting progressively lower than the one prior. While it was probably not great for the car’s suspension, wheels and tires, it made for a pretty unique drift scene complete with sparks. The stunt was finished off with the driver skimming the edge of the concrete slab as they drifted, resulting in a seriously close call.
The team didn’t even bother to stop when the sun went down. It just made for some more sideways driving and tire smoke for us to enjoy as well.
