Ford is adding to their lineup of fleet and government vehicles with the new 2016 F150 Special Service Vehicle package. Designed to expand the range of abilities for police, rescue, municipalities, and fleets, the new Special Service Vehicle package offers new upgrades that increase capability, cleaning, durability, and more from steel Ford F150 wheels to a vinyl interior.
“Many officers need the extra space F150 Special Service Vehicle offers,” said Stephen Tyler, Ford police marketing manager. “They can load the cargo box with equipment and still fit five people inside. Its utility is unmatched.”
The new Special Service Vehicle package includes a new high-output 240-amp alternator that replaces the standard part in road-going models for better performance during extended idling times. This comes standard with either the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6 or 5.0-liter V-8 engine driving either all four or the two rear Ford F150 wheels, giving customers the ability to get the perfect vehicle configuration to suit their needs.
In addition to the new alternator, and steel Ford F150 wheels, the interior of the Special Service Vehicle package includes a vinyl flooring that makes cleaning significantly easier. Rear bench vinyl seating is also included to limit cleaning times while seating now uses a 40/blank/40 setup instead of a 40/20/40 to give owners the ability for more space and customization for tools and accessories.
“We offer a whole family of police vehicles,” said Arie Groeneveld, Ford chief program engineer for police vehicles. “Our lineup aims to fulfill the unique needs of law enforcement officers, and our F-150 Special Service Vehicle is an extension of that offering. This vehicle definitely lives up to its Built Ford Tough reputation.”
In addition to the Ford F150 Special Service Vehicle for law enforcement, Ford also offers an Expedition Special Service Vehicle, Special Service Police Sedan, Transit Prisoner Transport Vehicle, Police Interceptor Sedan, and Police Interceptor Utility. This truck however, is just waiting to get its Ford F150 wheels muddy to catch criminals!
