Get those Tires and Wheels dirty with FIM Sidecar Motorcross!

FIM SideCarCross

Now this is bad ass.

Pretty much any time of motorsport and racing requires drivers and their co-pilots to have some pretty big balls. While racing today is nothing like the extremely dangerous competition like it was in the past, it’s still something that can easily kill you. The racers in FIM Sidecar Motorcross have gigantic balls of steel as they dig their tires and wheels into the dirt and go flying around the track.

We usually like to focus on various four wheeled things, but this kind of insane off-road racing is something that we can all easily enjoy. FIM Sidecar Motorcross combines motorcycle racing with freaking side cars on dirt tracks with off road tires and wheels. How could it get any better?!

The crew team of one of these racers includes a driver and side car rider, and both are equally instrumental in the race. The sidecar rider plays an important role in the vehicle’s handling. Their ability to lean and shift weight to a specific side of the vehicle helps get maximum grip out of the tires and wheels as they dig their tread into the ground. That shifting weight dynamic can make or break a race, and requires a tremendous amount of physical conditioning to perform for an entire race.

And while that seems like a crazy fun time, it’s not without its dangers at all. Both the driver and rider are not secured into the vehicle, meaning that one simple mistake can yield disastrous results, flinging both of the crew from the vehicle.

This is one form of racing that still has the dangerous and thrilling aspect of motorsports past as their two-man team tries to dig their tires and wheels into the dirt and take home the checkered flag. Here’s to hoping it never dies!
