The Shelby GT350 Mustang is exactly what the doctor ordered when it comes to pure American power and performance. The legendary Shelby name makes the GT350 Mustang go faster and look intimidating while doing it thanks to more power, special wheels and rims, and taught suspension dynamics. For the 2017 model year, there’s even more fun in store.
The 5.2-liter V-8 isn’t your average motor, either. Featuring a flat-plane crankshaft, this beast is capable of putting down some serious power at high revs. The standard wheels and rims have to work to control the 526 horsepower at 7,500 RPM and 429 lb-ft. of torque at 4,750 RPM going through the Tremec six-speed manual gearbox.
While power is the name of the game, the 2017 model year Shelby GT350 Mustang is all about the customer and their desire for new colors. The team at Ford Performance chose three of the most popular color schemes as voted on by the fans that perfectly match the black wheels and rims right from the factory.
“Ford Performance is always listening to customer feedback,” said Dave Pericak, global director, Ford Performance. “At the end of last year we started offering a back seat option for Shelby GT350R due to customer demand. Now, we have adjusted the packages available to continue to provide more of what customers want on the Shelby GT350 Mustang.”
The three new color schemes available on the 2017 Shelby Mustang GT350 are Ruby Red Metallic, Lightning Blue, and Grabber Blue, which replace the Deep Impact Blue and Competition orange colors that will no longer be offered.
For the 2017 model year vehicle, the Track Package will come standard on all models. The package includes upgrades like an aluminum tower brace and MagneRide damping system to keep those black wheels and rims planted on the asphalt. New engine, transmission, and differential oil coolers also come standard as part of the package along with a new decklid spoiler.
The new 2017 Shelby GT350 Mustang will be available for sale in June.
