More fun for the SUV.
Over the past 25 years, the Ford Explorer has been the best-selling SUV around the world. That’s no small feat, especially considering the higly-competitive segment. The current-generation model is carrying over that success, and Ford is celebrating with a new XLT Sport Appearance package. The new upgrade pack will include new custom wheels, body work, and a special interior.
“Our Sport Appearance philosophy is rooted in the fact that we know exterior appearance is the No. 1 consideration in SUV purchase decisions,” said Omar Odeh, Explorer brand marketing manager. “The XLT Sport Appearance Package is a dramatic offering that gives customers another attractive option.”
Customers have shown their interest in special models by snagging up Explorer Sport and Platinum models, which make up 30-percent of sales in the U.S. market. Ford hopes to build on that trend with the XLT Sport package and its unique body applications, custom wheels, and refined interior.
Visually, the new Ford Explorer XLT Sport Package will include new Magnetic Gray mirror caps, a rear applique, and front grille, which match the new 20-inch custom wheels bearing the same color finish. Ebony Black body side cladding and a black roof rack provide some contrast while a new Explorer hood badge dominates the front fascia.
“In the market right now, across all our SUVs, customers are looking for unique colors, wheels and interior appointments,” said Odeh. “We’ve worked closely with Ford Design to deliver a unique look that will resonate with customers.”
Inside, the Ford Explorer XLT Sport includes Dark Earth Gray front seats featuring leather bolstering by Salerno while Miko suede is used for the seat inserts and door panels with Umber contrast stitching.
For the Ford Escape, a similar Sport Appearance Package will also be available for the 2017 model-year. The package will include new 19-inch Ebony Black custom wheels, body work, and new interior refinements.
The new 2017 Ford Explorer XLT Sport Appearance package will be available for order from dealerships in the coming months.
