Black on Black always works.

The Porsche Cayman has always been the forgotten sports car in the German automaker’s lineup and that’s rather unfortunate. The mid-engined layout gives it arguably the best balance and handling dynamics in the lineup and it has plenty of power to go around with a relatively affordable price tag. However, it is overshadowed by the 911 and its drop-top cousin, the Boxster. That doesn’t mean that it isn’t an awesome car to drive and this first-generation, facelifted black Cayman S with Victor Equipment Porsche wheels is a surefire way to enjoy performance driving.

The Porsche Cayman S uses a mid-mounted 3.4-liter flat-six cylinder engine with a lower center of gravity. The naturally-aspirated engine sends a total of 320 horsepower and 271 lb-ft. of torque to each of its Victor Equipment Porsche wheels as they claw for traction. The Cayman may not have the same output as the 911 does, but what it lacks in power it more than makes up for in the driving and handling departments.

One of the hallmarks of the Cayman is its handling dynamics. The short wheelbase and mid-mounted engine help all four of the Victor Equipment Porsche wheels grab the pavement better than its rear- or front-engined opponents. The mid-engine design helps to better distribute the weight between the front and rear axles as opposed to cars that have their engines mounted up front or at the rear. This allows the Cayman to be easier to control at its limits and more predictable.

This black Cayman S said goodbye to its factory set of wheels for a new set of Victor Equipment Porsche wheels instead. The Victor Equipment wheels are designed specifically for Porsche models and built for their specific characteristics and sizes. Here, a their Zehn rims were installed in a staggered 20 x 8.5 ET45 front and a 20 x 11.0 ET55 rear setup with 15 mm spacers to expand them outwards. Each wheel wears a slick black finish and hugs the bodywork closely thanks to new H&R springs. The springs not only improve the overall look of the Cayman S but also improve the overall handling dynamics as well and reduce height by one inch.

The Cayman S may be the little brother compared to the 911, but it is still one exciting car, especially with its new wheel fitment.
