Truckin’ since 1918.

It’s hard to believe, but it’s been a full 100 years since the first Chevrolet truck rolled off the factory line and into the streets. Lots of things have changed since then, but the work oriented mindset of the vehicle is still the same. To celebrate, Chevrolet is launching the Colorado and Silverado Centennial Editions with new truck rims along with some other great opportunities for customers.

“The Chevy Trucks Centennial is a huge milestone for us, and is equally important to our customers,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks Advertising and Marketing director. “That’s why we will be celebrating 100 years of Chevy Trucks over the course of the next 100 days. It’s important that we share this celebration with our loyal customers who have helped us achieve this accomplishment.”

Lots has changed over the 100 years that saw Chevrolet build more than 85 million trucks. The first was a one-ton model with a four cylinder engine that produced 36 horsepower for its rear truck rims. Back then, customers could choose between a half-ton light delivery model and a one-ton model with an open chassis behind the windshield.

Kicking things off with the 100-year celebration is the State Fair of Texas where Chevrolet unveiled two new special edition models, the Chevy Truck Legends program, new merchandise, and the official Chevy Truck Centennial Celebration on December 16th, 2017.

One of the new special edition models is the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Centennial Edition. The option is only available on Z71 crew and extended cab models, and will be available at dealerships in the United States in November.

Coming standard on the Colorado Centennial Edition are heritage bowtie emblems at the front and rear along with a spray-on bedliner with heritage bowtie emblem. A Centennial Blue paint makes the special edition stand out even more along with the body-colored rear bumper and front grille surround. LT Optional 18-inch truck rims with a monochromatic cap and 100-year door badge add some style to each side of the Colorado. Chrome tow hooks, belt molding, mirror caps, and door handles finish off the exterior transformation. Inside, new accessory floor liners with heritage bowtie emblems also come standard.

Customers can celebrate the 100-year anniversary by purchasing the Silverado or Colorado Centennial Edition models with their unique touches and truck rims or at the free, invite-only Chevy Trucks Centennial Celebration event.
