Wheelie time!

Racing can be dangerous and deadly, especially at the drag strip where high powered cars try to go as fast as possible in the quarter mile with sticky tires and custom wheels. Things don’t always go to plan in that situation, and it often results in an accident. But this time, it worked out for the better.

At the Lights Out 8 event in Georgia, J.R. Pines was running his New Edge Ford Mustang with serious engine modifications and custom wheels with fat rubber. Lined up next to him in the first round was a Fox body Ford Mustang with some serious upgrades as well.

Both cars lined up at the strip and got ready to launch their vehicles to triple digit speeds on the pavement. The only problem was that Pines had so much power going to the rear custom wheels, that it launched the front end of the Mustang into the air, causing it to do a wheelie.

Instead of letting off the throttle and coming down to a stop, Pines continued to have his rear custom wheels do all the work and kept the lead, until finally coming down and bouncing off the pavement at the end of the run.

And while this was extremely dangerous and appeared as though it would result in an accident, it actually led to Pines getting the win. Upon further review no part of the car crossed the center line, so the run counted.

Now, that was scary!
